Myrtle E. Rosenthal, 84, of 6011 North Park Road, Wisconsin Rapids, went to her eternal rest Friday, Oct. 5, 2007, at the Wisconsin Rapids Care Center.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, at United Methodist Church. The Rev. Marty William will officiate. Burial will be in Forest Hill Mausoleum.

Myrtle was born May 14, 1923, in the town of Sigel, to William and Louise (Brehm) Knuth. She married Robert C. Rosenthal on May 9, 1948, in the town of Sigel. He died Aug. 6, 2006.

She attended and was confirmed at St. Johns Lutheran Church in the town of Sigel. She graduated from St. Johns Lutheran School in 1937 and from Wood County Agricultural High School in 1941. She was employed at Johnson Hill's Department Store for nine years, leaving there in 1957. That same year she joined her husband in the family business as the bookkeeper. She, with her husband, owned and operated the Rosenthal Oil Co. for 34 years, both retiring in 1982. They spent 17 wonderful winters in Mission, Texas.

She taught Sunday school for many years and was the charter senior regent for Women of the Moose. She also was a member of United Methodist Dorcas Circle. Myrtle loved working with flowers and making arrangements and crafts, playing cards and dancing.

She leaves to mourn her death, three children, James (Colette), Robert L. Jr. (Nadine), and Michele (Tim) Meacham, all of Wisconsin Rapids; four grandchildren, Tim, Bryan, and Bobbie Jo Rosenthal, and Stephanie Meacham; three great-grandchildren, Tyler, Parker, and Carl; one sister, Charlotte Wick of Wisconsin Rapids; and one brother, William Knuth of Wisconsin Rapids.

She was preceded in death by sisters, Esther Bethke, Ruth Wick, Lela Petersen, Marie Petersen, Claire Van Roy, and Elizabeth Finup; three brothers, Edward, Raymond, and Harold Knuth; and her parents.

Visitation will be at Higgins Funeral Home from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, and at United Methodist Church on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until time of services.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to United Methodist Church or a charity of your choice.
