Mary Eleanor Sullivan, 93, formerly of 530 Oak St., Wisconsin Rapids, died Sept. 15 2007, at the home of her son Patrick in Stevens Point. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Sept. 19 at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Service will be officiated by Father Andrew Karoblis. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Sullivan was born Nov. 21, 1913, in Wisconsin Rapids to John E. and Mabel (Alyward) Schnabel.

She married John G. Sullivan on June 29, 1940, in Wisconsin Rapids. He died Dec. 27, 1992.

Sullivan graduated from Lincoln High School, attended Rosary College for two years, then graduated from the Chicago Art Institute. She returned home to care for her mother with TB. At the time she tailored for her brother Bill at Bill Schnabel Clothing Store. She was also very active in her church and its organizations. She dedicated her life to helping family and friends. She was also an accomplished painter.

Sullivan is survived by son, John Patrick of Stevens Point; two daughters, Kathleen Mary (John) O' Hara, Palatine, Ill., and Mary Ellen (Philip) Sullivan-Rickey, St. Paul, Min.; sister, Catherine Kasper, Fairmont, Min.; three sister-in-laws, Mabel Schnabel of Merrill, Margaret Schnabel and Lenore Schnabel of Wisconsin Rapids. She is preceded in death by her parents and five brothers. Sullivan is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Memorials can be given to the John and Mary Endowment Fund at Assumption High School and the Riverview Hospital Association.

Visitation will take place from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Higgins Funeral Home and then from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. A rosary service will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
