View this Videotribute Arthur J. Fischer, 69, of 420 Lyon St., Wisconsin Rapids, died Monday, March 17, 2008, at his residence. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. The Rev. Tim Welles will officiate. Burial will be in Forest Hill Mausoleum. Visitation will be at Higgins Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday and then again Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. A parish prayer service will be at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Arthur was born June 12, 1938, in Wisconsin Rapids, to Donald and Thelma (Sickles) Fischer. He married Joanne Walters on June 25, 1960, in Wisconsin Rapids. She survives. He was employed by Consolidated Papers Inc. from 1967 until becoming disabled in 1979. He was secretary of the Pulp and Sulfide Union Local 94. He also worked as a delivery man at his parents' motorcycle and bicycle shop delivering mail. Activities he enjoyed were bowling, water skiing, bike riding, motorcycling and camping. He is survived by his wife, Joanne of Wisconsin Rapids, four sons, Doug (Ann) of Necedah, Dale (Jessica) of Kyle, Texas, David of West Bend, and Dan of Waukesha; two daughters, Dawn (Bill) Copelin of Kansas City, Mo., and Debora (Jeff) Blake of Grand Forks, N.D.; grandchildren, Nicole, Jimmy, Coleen, Stephanie Rae, Sean, Taylor, Brittany, Timmy, Jenna, Stephanie Jean, Gregg, Stevie, Dougie, and Crystal. He also is survived by one brother, James (Judy) Fischer of Oregon, and one sister, Jean (John) Baxter of Napa, Calif. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one grandson, Michael Joseph Fischer. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society. Higgins Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
